Be inspired to embrace the power of community.
If you can dream it, you can achieve it. But you can’t do it alone.
As women, we are expected to do it all and appear unflappable every step of the way. This false narrative perpetuates an ideal that none of us can live up to. It divides us, pushing us into a cycle of competition and comparison. We should rely on each other instead. Yet most of us struggle to ask for help. It comes down to an unwillingness to be vulnerable: a fear that exposing our struggles is a sign of weakness. The truth is that owning our shortcomings is just as powerful as celebrating our strengths, and arguably takes even more guts.
Success at anything requires a team. Whether you are building a family, a career or the next billion-dollar brand, no one should go it alone. It may be an open mind, an introduction, an investment, a shoulder to cry on – support can come in many forms, and we should never be afraid to receive it. Our opportunity to reciprocate may be just around the corner – and that is just as important.
The mission of Elevating Women is to create a community where women can come together, share their stories and be inspired to take action. In this issue, we celebrate two female founders who are harnessing the power of community in their own lives. From a jewelry mogul who is creating a work-life utopia, to Wall Street’s first female investment firm CEO who is forging a path for women entrepreneurs, these founders are proof that support – both giving and receiving – is the ultimate secret to success.
Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a mother, a partner – or all of the above – we hope you leave this issue inspired to embrace the power of community. Because when we come together, the possibilities are limitless. Enjoy!
